Our projects are of three kinds. First, we train our missionaries to give them the best abilities to meet the spiritual needs of their working field. After their studies, they will set up socio-economic development projects in the regions where they will work. The members of the association can also propose such projects. Finally, we are thinking of creating income-generating activities for our self-financing.
Training
Each year, MIDEM recruits and trains a missionary.
Our missionaries are required to undergo theological training before starting their mission. They are sent to ISTE (Institut Supérieur de Théologie Evangélique) for a complete course of study in order to obtain a Master’s degree.
MIDEM takes care of renting accommodation near the Institute for its missionaries in training, their tuition fees, and all their daily needs during their studies.
If the missionaries need other trainings pertinent for their ministries, MIDEM will fund these as well.
Development Projects
In 2019, MIDEM implemented an economical plant watering system at a secondary school in Ihosy, a location in southern Madagascar where the heat is intense and water is scarce. This project aimed to teach students how to use water without waste, without much effort, and maximizing the growth of the plants.
In 2020, a study was made to computerize the management of the daily affairs of an administrative locality of 300,000 inhabitants in Antananarivo. This project has already found potential funding and resources, but has not come to fruition due to problems mentioned by the local officials.
Self-financing projects
MIDEM is also thinking of creating projects to finance itself in the medium and long term.
One of them is to build a Guest-house in Toamasina, the second largest city of the country located on the east coast. A plot of land has been made available to the association by one of its donators for this purpose. Thebuilding plans are already ready but no financing has been found yet.
We have also planned to buy a piece of land and build a house in Antananarivo, which will be used to house the students during their training, and part of which will be rented out to generate a stable income.
